The Inner Team You Already Have
There’s a quiet kind of power in remembering that we don’t have to do everything alone.
I don’t just mean leaning on friends, colleagues, or family — although that matters too. I mean remembering that inside each of us, there are resources far greater than the part of us that’s scrambling to keep up.
Moore and Gillette described four great archetypes: Sovereign, Warrior, Lover, and Magician. Though often spoken of in masculine terms, these archetypes live within women just as powerfully. When we soften them through a feminine lens, they become an inner team we can call upon whenever life — or leadership — demands more of us than we think we have.
You don’t need to be in all of them at once. You simply need to know which one to invite forward in the moment.
The Sovereign is your inner queen. She sees the bigger picture, holds the vision, and reminds you of your “why” when details threaten to overwhelm.
-
In shadow: She tips into control, rigidity, or perfectionism.
-
In balance: She radiates calm authority and inspires trust by simply standing steady.
The Warrior is the part of you that takes action. She rolls up her sleeves, finds the stamina, and gets things done.
-
In shadow: She pushes too hard, bulldozes others, or drives herself into burnout.
-
In balance: She brings courage, discipline, and the satisfaction of progress.
The Lover is your heart. She reminds you that people matter more than checklists, that tenderness belongs alongside strength.
-
In shadow: She clings, seeks validation, or avoids conflict to keep the peace.
-
In balance: She nurtures, connects, and brings warmth that sustains relationships through change.
The Magician is your intuition, your faith, your connection to something larger than yourself. She’s the voice that says, “Trust. You are supported.”
-
In shadow: She hides in overthinking, manipulation, or disconnection.
-
In balance: She brings perspective, creativity, and the deep knowing that life often aligns in ways we couldn’t force if we tried.
When we forget these archetypes, we default to old habits — overworking, controlling, striving. But when we remember them, we find balance. We stop forcing and start leading from a place that feels lighter, wiser, and more whole.
The Gentle Reframe
If you find yourself carrying the weight of change right now, here are a few invitations you might try:
- Instead of thinking “It’s all on me,” ask: “Which archetype can support me here?”
- Instead of leaning only on Warrior, notice if Sovereign’s vision or Lover’s compassion is what’s really
- needed.
- Instead of trying to solve everything with logic, pause and ask your Magician: “What wants to unfold here if I trust?”
This is leadership in its truest sense — not about control or perfection, but about knowing which part of yourself to call on, and allowing that energy to rise.

Goddesses In Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen

One of the books that has deeply influenced how I think about inner archetypes is Goddesses in Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen. In it, Bolen draws on Greek mythology to show how timeless goddess energies live within us all — from Hera’s leadership to Artemis’s independence, Aphrodite’s passion, and Hecate’s intuition.
Much like the Sovereign, Warrior, Lover, and Magician I’ve been reflecting on this month, these goddesses remind us that we already carry multiple sources of wisdom and power inside us. The key is knowing when to call on each one — and how to keep them in balance — especially during times of change.
Invitation
Join the Soul Sirens Circle
A Soul Siren is a woman who dares to hear and follow the call of her own soul. She’s no longer willing to stay stuck in silence, burnout, or “shoulds.” Instead, she chooses authenticity, courage, and joy — and in doing so, she naturally calls other women forward too.
The name comes from the idea that when a woman finds and uses her true voice, she becomes magnetic. Not in a superficial way, but in a deep, resonant way that inspires others to rise. Soul Sirens don’t need to shout. They lead by presence, by truth, and by living life on their own terms.
That’s exactly what our Soul Sirens Circle is about: a private Facebook community where women come together to share stories, reflect on the inner archetypes we’ve been exploring, and support one another as we step into the next chapters of our lives — with less striving and more trust.

Final Thoughts
Change — whether it’s chosen or unexpected — always asks something of us. Sometimes it calls for Warrior grit, sometimes for Sovereign vision, sometimes for Lover’s compassion, and often for Magician’s faith. The truth is, we don’t have to do it all alone. We already carry everything we need within us.
My hope is that this month’s reflections remind you to pause, to breathe, and to notice which part of you wants to step forward next. Because when you lead yourself with balance and trust, you naturally lead others too.
